idle high

What rpm range does it idle at? The first generation vibe/matrix/ corolla all idle much higher than you'd expect for a quite a while when first started, especially in the cold. Does it always idle high even if engines been running for a long period of driing?

If it's after he changed the seal it probably has a vacuum leek and is ingesting air where it shouldn't. Spray some wd40 sparingly around where he work to see if the engine idle fluctuates and identify where you sprayed when it does and start looking there

It is idling high before warming up then settles down. One other weird thing when I sit down into the car it idles funny for a second. I actually feel insulted when it happens like it is groaning. I'm not overweight by any means :-)

Im not positive with the newer body style vibes/matrix but the first generation always idled SUPER high especially when its cold out for a good five to ten minutes or more until engines in normal operating temperature. the toyota/yamaha built vvt-i and vvtl-i engines have high compression and are high strung naturally. they will also fluctuate all over the place while its warming up. that is 100% normal on these cars unless its idling above like 2000 or 3000 rpms then thats a bit excessive. what rpm range does it idle at when its doing it?
