What are the sings your water pump is going out

Overheating - but that could be a lot of things. Leaks would be obvious.

Coolant issues with Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8l engine -water pump noise, leaking. Also loss of coolant may occur in upper or lower intake manifold (very common) and the 2 plastic elbows by the alternator, these are super common problems -auto parts stores stock them
