2007 dodge ram 2500 5.7ltr

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After turning the truck off, I attempted to start it again. I turned the key and it was like the ignition did not want to release and the truck wouldn't start. When I turn the key and let the ignition spring back, it continues to engage the starter, but still wont start. I changed the crankshaft position sensor and still nothing changed. Please help, is there a sensor I'm missing ?

Mine was doing that also. But not all the time. A few weeks later I got a code for bad egr valve. After replacing the egr valve it has not done it again. Not sure if that's what was causing it just spin on its own and not start but I am glad its doing fine now. Its been over a year since then. Does it show any codes?

its called tip start. all you have to do is just turn it to start position and let go of key. it will keep cranking eng. for you. but if eng. doesnt start, it will continue for awhile. but it will stop. it does seem wierd when it happens. It is working normal tho.....
