What causes truck to cut off after filling up vehicle

Asked by rdrjr Apr 20, 2015 at 10:27 AM about the 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab 2x4.  I have had this vehicle since 2009.
Since purchasing the vehicle I always fill to the top with no problem.  For the last 3-4
months when I fill up and drive and come to a stop sign or stop light the vehicle cuts
off.  I put it in neutral and it starts.  This continues until after I have driven the vehicle for
about 10 to 12 miles.  Then it does not do it again until I fill the vehicle up again.  Can
you give me any reason that this is happening?

if you are topping off the tank instead of stopping when the pump clicks off the first time, you could be getting fuel into the evap system and flooding it with fuel.
