Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently I bought a used 04 Tahoe with 101k on it.
When I drive it I notice it has a whistling sound.
When I step on the gas it gets a little louder while I
let off the gas it gets less of a sound. I took it to
get  a diagnostic on it and they said the catalytic
converter is getting mad. Could that cause It to
make a whistle sound?

"Getting mad?" Try complimenting it on a fine job it's doing, or buy it some chocolates... usually gets me out of the doghouse with the ol' lady. A plugged cat would give you performance issues, not to mention it would smell like rotten eggs. Try looking for a vacuum leak around your throttle body or air intake. Maybe you have an exhaust leak like around the donut gasket. I suppose if your cat is going bad it could put more pressure on the donut gasket.

Haha I'll try the chocolates thing sounds a lot cheaper lol... Thanks for the advice I'll take a look at throttle body and air intake... One time I was driving I spelt something like rotten eggs for a few seconds then went away.. Thanks !

Rotten eggs... that does point to a catalytic converter. If it is plugging up it will create additional backpressure in the exhaust which may be forcing its way out via the donut gasket or exhaust flange or who knows where.
