04 Explorer won't start after new starter and battery

Asked by Kayleigh May 13, 2014 at 08:32 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer XLT Sport V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

4 days ago our Explorer wouldn't start, not
even lights coming on and wouldn't jump start.
We replaced the battery. Now the lights come
on but it wouldn't start. So we replaced the
starter. And it still won't start or even turn over.
Any ideas?

If the starter will not turn over the engine when the key is turned there may be a problem with the electrical connections between the battery and the starter. Make sure all the connections are correct.

I know exactly what your problem is a pink, when you try starting it does the odometer read - - - - -?

I don't remember what odometer did but it turned out the chip in our key had gone bad. Once we placed the key it started right up.
