Question type: General

There are no tow hooks mounted in front.  Why?  Are they available or do I need to go to a specialty shop and have them made up.

There may be another place to attach the for towing. Tow hooks can normally be purchased from the dealership and other aftermarket auto parts stores or off-road shops.

None of the Explorers have the hooks as standard; some of the earlier models had them as an option. You can purchase the hooks from Ford or from aftermarket suppliers. I've installed them on several Explorers and it's not a hard task. Just be sure to use the proper caase hardened bolts and NOT ordinary hardware store fittings, or you could have disastrous failure and personal injury or property damage or worse occur. If you don't have the mechanical skill to do it, have an off-road shop do it for you.

Unfortunately, Ford does not list tow hooks for the front of 2007 Ford Explorers. Tow hooks used for ordinary 4X4 wench used are not shown in the Ford parts department manuals. And, the plastic part of the bumper assembly does not make any allowance for front tow hooks.
