A/C not blowing cold

Asked by Diveanx May 15, 2010 at 02:17 PM about the 2007 Toyota Highlander Limited V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Highlander that the A/C was working just fine and then all of a sudden it stopped working. The gage's were reading a little low on the low side so I thought that maybe a reed was broken in the compressor so I replaced it.

The low side is reading like 22-25 and high side is running about 180-200 in about 80 degrees in relative humidity.

There are no bubbles in the site glass and the system is full. The low side line from the compressor or the evaporator is not getting cold either. Now I have working on GM cars my whole life so I am not familiar with a system like this. I do not see a Dryer or any kind of orifice so this is new to me. I am assuming that the pressure is either controlled in the evaporator or the line that has the block where the site glass is located.

I am a GM guy and have never seen a problem like this. Any help would be appreciated

Fix to the common problem is this: Remove temperature control knob to reveal it's fastening nut. Tighten it. Replace knob. All done
