I have followed the maintenance requirement form day one. The dealer could not tell me either why it was it was missing all this oil. I am suspecting that it was burning. oil.

There's way too many variables to answer this question - for instance: were you the original owner? How did you drive it - lead foot? Hot rod? Street racer? Did you routinely check oil and other fluids, even in between oil changes? Any symptoms of excessive oil consumption in the months before it blew? Ticking or knocking from the engine? Since they have the motor broken down, how does the valve train look? Gunked up? Scoring? Carbon buildup? How do the pistons look? How did the gaskets look? What did the bottom of the pan look like? Screen on oil pickup? And so on... no easy way to explain why it happened, but if you're out of warranty the cost is on you, sad to say.
