Current drain

Asked by GuruHFLFZ Aug 07, 2019 at 04:50 PM about the 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 5.3 amp draw from the battery wilt all systems off, key removed from
the ignition switch. If I remove the "hot wire" from the alternator the draw goes
to 0. If I remove the 2 wire connector to the alternator and reconnect the main
wire the draw returns to 5.3 amps. On this car the voltage regulator is in the
PCM not the alternator. I'm at a loss as to what the issue could be.
