loose nut on lower ball joint

Asked by reetlerug Mar 17, 2011 at 01:59 PM about the 2007 Mercury Montego Premier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The nut on the drivers side lower ball jount came loose causing the car to have steering issues. The car has a little over 34,000 miles on it. I tightened the nut back and the car runs normal. Has there been any issues with the lower ball joints on the Montego?

I had the exact same thing happen on my 2007 Mercury Montego Premier. My car only had less than 14,000 miles on it. Mine was't detected until a yearly inspection, but the bolt had already scored the tire all the way to the threads. I needed 2 new tires, in addition to front brakes and the repairs on the ball joint.
