The Check engine light code reader won't activate when I plug in a code reader.

Asked by Jeffrey Oct 19, 2018 at 06:23 PM about the 2006 Hummer H3 4dr SUV 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light came on so I plugged in my code reader into the code reader port and it would not power up. So to make sure that I did not have a faulty code reader I used a different code reader and plugged it in, same result. If you have any information please contact me.

Many of the OBDII ports are connected to the cigar lighter circuit. I'll bet the cigar lighter (power port) fuse is blown.
