how do i get the hood open when the cable broke

the cable broke when trying to open the hood. any suggestions on how to open the hood to make repairs on the cable

If you can get a hold of the broken cable end use pliers to pull the release.

I would try getting under the car and look up and see if you can use a long tool to trip the hood release.
