Maintenance/ repair

Asked by Kristina Jan 22, 2017 at 08:23 PM about the 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Subaru Impreza with 93000 miles. I
need an estimate on how much it would cost to
have my head gasket replaced.

18,505

General consensus is that it's usually between 1500-2500 depending on region and the extent of replacement parts. I would look up some local shops, check reviews, ask for price quotes, and ask if you can buy some of the parts you want replaced and have them install them while doing the job. Some things that are good to replace are head bolts, oem/six star head gaskets, complete timing belt kit (with idlers and tensioner), and request that they check your hoses and seals and such. These parts can be sourced much cheaper via rockauto.com and sometimes it is better to pay a little more on RA to get the better quality (gasket kit would be one scenario here). HTH
