check engine light and cruise control light

Asked by Charlie5866 Jun 23, 2020 at 01:11 PM about the 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Check engine light on and cruise light is blinking, took to reputable repair shop and tech said car was running rich and ECM pulled code for rear 02 sensor bad,Ok'd repair and 2 days later both came back on. Should I be concerned that ECM they have might only show a fuel related problem. I certainly don't want to start throwing parts at this. Should I take to dealer service or ask tech if he pulled exact code, Or do you know what possibly could be wrong? Any advise or answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

2006-2007 Imps use the VVT 2.5i which has a fairly simple emissions system. Did you have a CEL for the rear O2? Usually it's the front O2 (aka air/fuel sensor) that goes first. Some prior iterations had FIVE sensors...quite a nightmare to decipher when one goes bad, as they shout together at the ECM. The rear sensor is cheap, the front twice as much, but don't pay Subaru retail for it, as they're online finally. 14 years is a LONG time for O2 sensors....
