Oil warning light stays on?

Asked by rstfrancis May 18, 2020 at 02:43 PM about the 2005 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: General

My oil warning light (red) stays on most of the time. I have plenty of oil. What could be the problem? Can I drive the car? It is a 2005 xtype with a  3.0 liter engine and a stick shift.

Low oil pressure likely due to worn main bearings on a high mileage car. Other possibility... clogged sending unit, if not high miles on motor. Solution: replace sending unit, or (sorry) replace motor with low mileage used. Or... but new car
