One it depends what car you have, here in South gate CA you can get a new one or rebuilt one and it takes like about 2hrs if the guy is busy is on Firestone across from AutoZone ($50\$100)

Well "Catt", I for one would never take a vehicle for mechanical repair to Firestone unless it was the only option. Tires yes, but repairs no. A dealership that I trust or a reputable independent mechanic would be my first choice if I didn't do it myself. Also the Toyota factory alternator lists for $500 for the 130 amp and $461 for the 100 amp. Actual price if ordered through www.toyotaonlineparts.com is $290.34 for the 130 amp and $264.98 for the 100 amp. In this case I would opt for a Toyota new alternator rather than some of the aftermarket crap. I would think labor to install would be an hour or so, but have little info on that. Hourly rates vary widely across this country and I would say the per hour rate would be somewhere between $50 to $120 per hour.
