Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently the heater started acting up?  When we first get it he car the heater works fine.  Then after about 15 mins it stops working and just cold air blows.  This morning the temps were quite cold and the heater wouldn't work at all until later in the day when I went to go somewhere on my lunch break then it worked, but again for only a short while.  Car is not overheating.  I will add something just in case it is part of the problem.  Something must be wrong with the sensor that tells the outside temp, because it heats up to crazy high temps once the car is running.  Not sure if that is related.  That started some time over the summer.

Sounds like your coolant level is low. Try starting the motor and adding fluid until it gets to the top. Then let it circulate through the system and top it off. Hopefully this solves the problem. If this solves the problem but you have recently added fluid, you may well have a leak. Check hoses (especially around belts and fans since that is where they sometimes touch and wear through. After that check around the water pump and then freeze plugs. Best of luck.
