Could be a hose, a bypass hose or even the water pump but shouldnt flood out. Bet you its a bypass hose!

I have a 1996 suburban with an issue that need help with. My truck idle find revs up find only when you put it in gear and want to go it wants to die you let off the paddle and it fin you step on the gas want to chock it has no power. The garage told me that my water pumb needs to be replaced, on my surbarban 2003. They said it is not like a other water pumbs, they said on a surbarban the antifreeze is beening thrown against the moter or a shaft??? What are they talking about?
