2007 grand prix gxp. "TC off, Service Traction Control" is the message.. Out of power steering fluid, as well, when i back up as i turn my wheel, the right front tire makes a bad noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Main thing is God Awful noise from right front tire when I back up & turn the
wheel.  It seems to have a little more play in the steering going down the road
than usual. I just had full service oil change early December & don't really drive
that much so it shouldn't be out of power steering fluid. The only message I get
is "TC OFF,  SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM".

I agree. It's likely a bearing/axle issue. If its in the budget replace both bearings and both axles. They all tend to go around the same time. Spend the big bucks and use high quality American made wheel bearings. The cheap imported ones often only last about a year, sometimes less and then you have to do it over again. I use SKF or Timken. There are other good brands. Twice the money, but 5 times the quality.

If this problem is still there don't just keep throwing money at it for no reason. Lift that wheel and check for play in the bearings (if the bearings are bad it will take out the sensor). Then test the sensor with a multimeter you will have to spin the wheel and test it at the plug. That wheel speed sensor is a hall effect type sensor they can go out without the bearing, but highly not likely. So we now have that small portion of good info out of the way. The wiring harness for each sensor is about $35 just depends on the car. Those little tiny wires constantly bend back and fourth from steering, up and down from vibrations. I would go straight to checking it out in this manner before you throw $100 bills at it.
