What may be the cause for the reverse gear not to work

The car works wells on Drive but doesn't not move at all when it's on reverse transmission as if it has not entered
the gear....what maybe the problem?do I have to change the gear box?

Besides having to drop the transmission, it could be as simple as a linkage problem or faulty solenoid. Have a reputable mechanic or transmission shop diagnose the problem for you. Get multiple estimates.

I hope it is as simple as linkage or a solenoid. Many years ago, the same thing happened with my dearly departed 1995 Pathfinder SE. Had to put a rebuilt trans in it. The repair would have been almost as much, so I went with the rebuilt. Until you get yours fixed, be vary aware of how and where you park. Good luck.
