98 saturn sc2 electrical system

Asked by LUKEAUMS Sep 18, 2016 at 04:21 AM about the 1998 Saturn S-Series 2 Dr SC2 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 saturn sc 2. The starter seemed to be
acting up, so I replaced it. Started just fine but after
driving for a short period time it died. Jumped it,
drove a few blocks, then it died again. Didn't have
this issue before new starter. The only issue before
the new starter was that once the car got warm it
wouldn't restart but ran just fine. Now I drive a
while, guages bottom out, all dash lights come on,
and the car dies. I have no clue if it's the battery,
alternator, or a defective starter. Please help asap!

it can be tested at a autopart store like autozone. they can test battery as well

I just don't understand why it was keeping the car running for hours until I changed the starter. I put a new battery in as well now because I knew I needed one anyway. Next, the alternator. My abs light comes on when it's about to die. Which I guess other people have had that happen with Saturn's.
