95 Suburban LS 4x4 transmission problem

Asked by dillon2124 Mar 25, 2018 at 09:57 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When taking off transmission winds and the rpms
go up, I have to let off the gas to get er to shift.
Just drove  200 miles and it seems like the engine
is working harder to keep us going, a little over
3000 rpms which doesn't seem normal. Not sure
where to start looking, no big leaks and the trans
fluid still seems to be ok. Any advise would be
much appreciated. Guess it's a k1500, was my only
choice with 4x4.

Further testing by myself when we got home.... seems to look like I lost 2nd and 4th gear. (2 and D) must have drove home in 3rd. No difference going from 3rd to D. 2nd seems to not engage and just wind. Question, does my 95 4x4 Suburban also have the 4L60E tranny? Just asking because I noticed on the Internet it said many of the rear wheel drive suburbans and trucks had this type of tranny. Thanks again for any info.
