2007 pt cruiser gascap and engine light came on, engine running high, 3000rpm at 35mph, reset gascap light. Engine light I know will reset but engine still running high.

The gas cap light is telling you that you have a vapor leak in the vapor recovery system. Don't reset the light until you fix the problem. Try a new gas cap or a new gas cap gasket.
