Crankshaft position code

I changed the crankshaft position sensor cause it had a
code for it and still missfired and so i changed the plugs
and still has the mosfire any suggestions

From what I am reading there could be several things causing your misfiring. On the Dodge It is a common occurrence. You may need to do a lash adjustment but before that I would first try a few things before getting to that point. Frist replace all the wires, cap and plugs and a good engine cleaner to clean the deposits on the valves that may be stuck, You may want to do a compression test on each of the cylinders. Bad O2 sensors can cause the same issue you are having.

Good morning joemom, so as far as the miss-fire I would think a scanner would pick up on the problem and show a code.

I got your answer for sure it took me 2 years to diagnose and fix. Under the alternator is your Cam Shaft Sensor this has a magnet inside. So when the engine is turning it creates a current to the firing on the engine. This sensor is also responsible for if your truck is shutting off. I replaced one time it stopped you issues but then started aging I said a few choice words same issue I am having misfire. But I said to myself wonder if I got a bad part. So I took it back got a brand new one. I figured something out while installing it the second time. It has to be exactly lined up properly!!!!***** No more issues of shutting off or misfire. I also changed the crank shaft sensor. Also when running around town to stop the truck from over shifting and better response I figured out to drive in tow haul. Stop the over shifting and added fuel consumption then if I am going over 45 to 55 mph, I hit the button 2 times back to over drive!! no lights on dash for the transmission just running normally. I found that when the truck tries to shift that much in town it eats fuel like crazy. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by lines up properly ? You can only put it in one way with the bolt. I'm have g the issue on my 08 ram 4.7

Hi there I have 08 ram same thing I’ve changed can shaft sensor twice now same thing cutting out and stalling hard to start I’ve changed plugs coil packs EGR vailve still lot of miss fire and still saying crank shaft sensor

Back of motor. Have to remove starter to get to on some 5.7l hemis

A sign that its crank sensor if it can drive for alittle while until it heats up to much and stops working. Then it stop receiving signal until you let motor cool back off. Do not drive like this or it could cause serious damage or permanent seize of motor.

Hellow so i have a 2007 ram 5.7 an i have replaced crank an cam and plugs /coils an my truck still shows a check engine light an when driving it its blinking an i dont have alot of throttle respond o an i have replaced the throttle body to so a need some ideas on wat else could b the problem

Did you replace the cam shaft yet? Check the lobs on cam shaft and make sure they aren’t bent or flattened out. That could cause the misfiring

I had the same problem with my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L v8, I change the camshaft sensor still missed fire, so when I change my spark plugs I also bought ( ENA Pack of 8 New Ignition Coils Replacement ) from Amazon and I never gotten a missed fire again,

I wasn't having a misfire, I was having a long crank time. I changed the fuel pump, O2 sensors, converters, crank sensor, and plugs. After clearing all diagnostics. I still had a long crank time. I took it to a Dodge dealer, they told me that it was a cam sensor. I asked them if they had one in stock, they said no. I went to Autozone and ordered one and put it in myself. Still long crank time. I took it to another dealer, they told me it was the fuel pump. I thought how could two fuel pumps have the same problem. I found that hard to believe. The new pump that I had put on was still under warranty, so I replaced it again. Still long crank time. After putting out a ton of money I finally figured out the problem. I pulled the crank sensor out and cleaned the gear behind the crank sensor. That fixed the problem. Hope this helps someone out.
