Repair

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, my name is Sam and I drive a 1996 Chevy
Tahoe.  One day I was driving home and noticed my
car was jerking. I opened the hood and noticed a
hose was leaking transmission fluid badly. I patched
up the leak and continued to drive home with no
transmission fluid. My truck wouldn’t go over 50
mph the entire ride home (15-20 miles away). I got
home and filled my truck with transmission fluid and
it worked perfectly fine the rest of the day and the
next. 2 days later my truck cannot go over 25 mph
and the rpm’s keep increasing. What’s the problem
and what should I do? Thank you for you help in
advance.

Yes sir, I agree, a increase in rpms when stepping on the gas and you are not moving any faster or at all, definitely something happen to the transmission. Check the fluid level make sure it is full. But still this was not good on the trany.

Yea if I have to rebuild the tranny, then I think I’m just going to sell it for the low. I don’t have the time or resources to repair the car. Thank you guys for your help. I really appreciate it. God Bless
