Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Drove 1400 miles from Fl to NH no problems. Park
car for the night get up to go to work in a.m and
car wont stop. Brake pedal to the floor and the
heavy thing just barley comes to a hault. Had to
push with both feet. Vsc,trac and brake light come
on. Turn car off and back on lights go off but 4
stops later it does it again. Brake fluid is fine, gas
cap tight. No recalls on this year, I have 2 small
children and this was very scary. We did have to
slam on brakes yesterday on the interstate to avoid
someone from hitting us. Would this make this
happen?

Elizabeth, did you figure out what the problem was? My sequoia just did this as well.

Old topic, but we just had the same issue with our 06 Sequoia with roughly 240k miles. I assumed that I somehow got air in the lines while pushing in the rear brake pistons during a brake change and proceeded to bleed the brakes at all four wheels. This didn't fix the issue. I then read that a leaky valve in the ABS system could cause this. The recomended fix was to cycle the ABS valve by engaging it with a spirited stop on a quiet road. This didn't work for us either. Next I ran a few operational checks of the brake booster (Google it) and it seemed to fail these checks. To narrow it down, I removed the vacuum check valve and noticed air rushing out of the brake booster which indicated it was holding vacuum. At random times the peddle would sink to the floor, so i started to suspect the master cylinder. Changed the master cylinder, bled the master cylinder by cracking loose the lines at the cylinder, then at all four corners starting with the farthest wheel from the brake booster. Ran this bleeding cycle twice and now the Sequoia is back to normal.
