Asked by 1968_Sept Feb 20, 2018 at 11:58 AM about the 2006 GMC Canyon SLE1 Crew Cab 2WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 GMC Canyon 2.8 engine. My alternator went
bad causing me to drain my battery to almost zero.
Replaced battery and alternator. But now when I
start the engine cold the interior lights blink on and
off and radio HVAC and lights go off until engine
warms up usually around 2 to 3 minutes. Then
everything comes back on and works normally. On
very cold days if I run the heater too much and the
engine cools below normal the interior functions
go away again. Does anybody have any
suggestions?

Maybe the bcm needs to be reprogrammed? Sometimes when battery voltage is lost, some modules may need to relearn or be reprogrammed? I don't know if bcm would relearn on it's own? Could be other issues?
