Can't unlock/open hatchback (boot)

Asked by ME4302 Jul 06, 2016 at 01:21 AM about the 2007 Hyundai Accent SE 2-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Hyundai Accent SE Hatchback 90,000 miles -
everything was fine until the warranty expired. I
have 2 keys & 2 remotes ). Now, I can no longer
unlock driver door with either remote. So far, I can
still unlock driver door with keys. The passenger
door still opens with either key or either remote.
Recently, the hatchback door cannot be unlocked
with the keys or the remotes - apparently it's never
going to open again. The dealership service mgr
admitted malfunctioning door locks are a common
issue which can be fixed for around $600.00!! I
cant afford that!  Any advice?

Happy news! No answers from you cargurus, so I gave up & took my car back to the dealership. They discovered hatch door latch was actually only jammed. They unjammed it & it's working perfectly - no charge. The driver door requires a new actuator which is ordered & will be installed... P/L < $150. A lot of money? After months & months of using the key, it is worth it to me. This inexpensive car (bought new & all service requirements performed on schedule by KEFFER HYUNDAI) has been & remains amazing for nine years! Case closed.
