Security system on a 1997 Chevy lumina

To bypass the security you must first, take a resistance measurement (in ohms) of the trigger located in your ignition key)... second you must open up the steering column and locate the wires(purple 2x) for the system switch. Finally, solder a resistor between the two wires equaling the ohms value taken in the first steps measurement. Now your lumina's security system is bypassed!

I installed a switch from a grand am with the key not having a chip. I don't know what resistors to buy or where to test for resistance
