Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 saturn outlook. 170,000 miles. No previous
trouble.Driving on the highway i started to hear a
knocking noise i pulled over and oil spewed
everywhere. Now wont start. Got under in and a
wrist pin was laying on the ground. ..is this
something we can get fixed? I was told it would
need a whole new engine...

A whole new engine probably unless it threw the rod through the pan instead of the block. A full rebuild at a minimum.

The cost to rebuild and possible machine work would far exceed it's worth, I'd look for a used low-mileage replacement motor, or a re-manufactured motor (reman motor would cost a little more but without risk of getting a bum motor.)
