Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When opening the driver door to get in or out and the key is not in the ignition
a ding ding type alarm sounds when it never did before. Is there something
wrong? Will this drain the battery power?

The only other condition that sounds that alarm is leaving the headlights on. Possibly the ignition lock needs lubrication. It may be incorrectly "sensing" the key even after it's been removed. I don't think a few "dings" of the alarm will drain the battery.
