I just changed my oil pan and now there is more exaust then usual is this common

Doesn't sound right to me. Did you get oil on the exhaust pipes? Do you mean there is more exhaust out the pipes in the rear?
No, it's not common. I am curious why you changed the oil pan? Have a dent or hole? If the gasket got folded or slipped and you missed a single bolt hole through it, the gasket, it will draw air through it, as there is constant vacuum in the crankcase and that will play havoc on your PCV system, which is what draws that air from the crankcase, Tenspeed had a good point, if you got oil on the exhaust it will smoke and smell until it burns off
