I am thinking of buying a 2001 s60 T5. I am afraid because i see too many Volvo ads for sale online. Is it really expensive to maintain and how is Fuel consumption?

A Volvo will be more to Maintain than other makes due to the price of the parts. So please budget some money for maintenance and repairs if you do purchase. Fuel consumption is pretty avg. around 20MPG and you will need to use Premium Fuel. From what I read the 2001-02 models had issues with the ETM and the Transmissions, more so that than earlier and later models. So make sure the car have a good maintenance history and have a mechanic check it out Before purchasing. Good Luck!

I bought in december a 2001 s60 t5 with a very low mileage, and i have no issues with it, the car is in great shape. i live in south africa and people used to tell me maintenance is really expensive, but i found that it's not really true. fuel consumption however is high, on the highway you will do 11km per liter, but in the traffic it's double that consumption rate. regarding why people sell it, well, the world is crazy, don't you think, people selling things that work perfectly well, for cheap and get more debt on themselves to buy something that they don't need.
