1999 Tahoe rear lights

Asked by Ali Aug 10, 2018 at 03:52 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can't seem to get the rear lights to work on my Tahoe. I replaced stop light
switch, circuit boards, fuses and bulbs. I still don't have brake lights, turn
signals or hazards. I have reverse lights and DRLs though. I'm stumped, I've
read that I should try to replace the turn signal switch. Any ideas on what
direction to go in? I'm not trying to spend a fortune.

With electrical, always check voltage and ground circuits, use a test lite. Did you check stop fuse? Not only check the fuse, use a test lite and check voltage on the fuse, hot all the time. See the stop lamp switch in diagram, the top wire is voltage to switch. The bottom wire is voltage from the switch, when you press the brake pedal. Does the high-mount brake lite work? That brake lite is wired differently than the lower brake lites, as far as routing. The lower brake lites are wired through the multifunction switch. The lower brake lites and turn signals use the same bulb filament, just not at the same time. Sometimes, I use jumper wire to bypass the multifunction switch, just for testing, on the proper color wires, If the proper lamp comes on, what else could it be? I going to stop here, sometimes my posts are too long and won't post.
