Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 chevy suburban. I am having a
problem with the oil pressure gauge. When I
push the gas and let off as to coast for a bit
the oil pressure gauge drops completely and
the check gauges light comes on, but when I
tap the brake pedal it come back up to
normal. Would that be my oil pressure
regulator or the switch or are they the same
thing???

The gauge cluster is probly bad. Gm is known for the clusters goin bad. They used the wrong kind of sodier when assembling them and they cant carry the voltage threw it and also get very very small cracks almost invisible to the eye. Most of the time you can take a sodering iron and reheat the soder and itll be fine again or clean it up heat off the old soder and use the other kind. I have to research and see what kind was used at the factory. i forget exactly which one was used
