The trunk lock on my 2001 VW Cabrio convertible seems to be broken. The lock is loose and won't open the trunk. Any advice on how to get in there and fix it?

Drive a punch or screwdriver thru the key hole slot...Knocking the center out...Then use the screwdriver as a key...

my trunk has the same problem, and my trunk bushings need to be replaced, which you can only order from a vw dealer, until i get it fixed if i turn the key to the right until it stops (about 1 o'clock position) then push in the lock (with the key still in it) and lift the trunk it opens right up with no problem, hope this helps
