Idling high and blows white smoke at highway speed

When starting idles rough sometimes dies
then heats up idles high and when at
highway speed it blows white smoke
doesn't over heat and no coolant in oil

What Engine is in this vehicle. Automatic or Standard Tranny. Does this vehicle have power brakes?
