problems with cruise control?

My Cruise control worked once when I bought it Earlier this year and now it doesn't. There is a button way to the right on my dash. A green light turns on when i push it but when i press the set button on the right of my wheel it wont stay on at all. Can anybody help with this bpoblem. I dont know if its the controls or harder?
