I have an '05 1500 Ram with a 5.7. I just changed the head gaskets, plugs and wires. As far as i can tell, nothing moved while i had the heads off(completely swapped one side at a time). Now I can get it to start, but it runs extremely rough and only for about 5 sec before it dies. No leaks, all pig tails plugged into they're proper spots, fluids are where they are supposed to be. The only thing that went wrong during the process was I had to replace 4 exhaust manifold bolts that the heads snapped off of. I did have the battery unplugged the whole time it was torn down. Thoughts, tips, tricks, ideas.... how do i reset the timing on this thing? 2 Answers

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with the 4.7. The plugs for the 4.7 have a reach of 3/4". I believe my mechanic may have installed the plugs for the 5.7 hemi which are 1" in reach. My truck went into the shop perfectly fine and came out with the engine knocking. Is it possible that the 1/4" difference in length caused the pistons to strike the longer, incorrect plugs hence, that caused the knock? The shop admitted to me that the wrong plugs had been ordered. When asked if it was possible that they may have installed the incorrect ones, they told me that the thread size wasn't the same. Well, truth be told, it is the same size thread. Thanks for any input! 2 Answers

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 4.7 Sport. I recently put in a new/used motor because my old one had a bad crankshaft. So after getting new motor in I started the truck and it ran great. I only ran it for about 5 seconds because I noticed I had a broken transmission line. I went back the next day and fixed the line. I went to start the truck back up and nothing happened. No click no nothing, everything lights up on dash. My engine light comes on and blinks about tens times than stays steady. My gear selections are all lit up. Does anyone know the do it yourself solution? 1 Answer
