Starting

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 v8.. what it’s doing is
when I start it up cold (in the am on way to work) when I
get to my destination I turn the truck off but it won’t start
back it will just turn over and it takes about 45 minutes to
a hour to start back but when it’s started it runs fine and
never dies on me it’s only when I turn it off.. my guess is
something is getting hot or something and it has to cool
before it’ll start. Anyone know what this could be?

Hard starting (good battery)...but it eventually starts...is usually associated with a failing fuel pump, leaky fuel line, clogged injectors or evap system problems. However, under the heading of simple n obvious, is the check engine light on?...1)leave the gas cap off...yes the check engine light will come on, if it's not on already...try driving around, or removing it when it's time to restart the pickup when it's hot. Do you have access to an ECM scanner that displays live data?
