Truck is overheating after new coolent was added

hi did you just add fluid or did you drain and fill the whole system....if you serviced and filled the whole system its possible that you need to bleed the air out of it ...if you get an air pocket behind the thermostat it will not open up and the engine will over heat...the easiest way is with the engine off take off the one of the heater hoses with the rad cap off and fill it until the coolant comes out ...depending on the engine some have a bleed screw you can take out to help
