How do I find out what type of gear I have on the rear end of a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS? I already know it's a 3.73 ratio. I just need to know if it's an 8.25 or 8.625.

All 1/2-tons with the 4.8 or 5.3 have the 8.625" rear-end,6.0 and 6.2's have the 9.5" rear-end The codes are on the sticker inside the glove box door. You said its a GT4-3.73... sometimes there will be a tag attached be bolt on the rear axle with the ratio and size..
