what will cause a dodge ram 1500 to shut off while driving when the motor gets warm.

Asked by GuruYNQ6W Mar 16, 2018 at 03:06 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT Quad Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 will run fine until the motor gets warm then it will
suddenly shut off. Once the motor cools off the truck can be restarted and
drove until the motor reheats then it shuts off again.

Or can even be your crank sensor faulty sometimes will cause the check engine light to come on but not all the time

take your gas cap off n see if she'll start n run when warmed up then. If you get a big sucking sound when you pull the gas cap or it takes forever to fill the tank, the evap emissions system has a problem. If you "topped" off your tank like in the old days, your charcoal canister is finished n has liquid fuel in it and the pellets from the canister are clogging up your evap valve.
