Cranks won’t start.

Asked by GuruXS1JD Oct 27, 2018 at 12:35 PM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 WS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Someone broke into my 1997 Dodge Ram
and likely stuck a screwdriver or something in
the ignition and destroyed the lock cylinder. I
ordered new lock cylinder and ignition switch
as I was unable to get the cylinder out after
they destroyed it.
New parts in and the engine turns over but
will not start. Sprayed starter fluid down it but
likely isn’t getting spark. I can’t think of
anything that would cause this. The truck
was running fine before this. All fuses check
fine.  Code tester will not read anymore. It
just says error. It use to read before. Not now.
Is there a anti theft thing I’m missing or any
other ideas.

Even on a 1997? To me there’s no electronics in the switch. This vehicle only has only ever had a regular key. Not one that has a chip in it
