1997 Dodge Ram 1500

97 Dodge Ram 1500. Auto Trans 4x4. Truck has
108k on it, but engine runs great. Starts fine, goes
into gear fine and shifts fine. BUT, when I’m going
35mph (3rd gear I believe) it will stall. If I come to a
stop, put it in park, it will fire back up. If I try to put it
in drive, it’ll want to stall again. I’m thinking IAC
needs a good clean, but would that make it stall at
35mph? Now, say I’m going 35 mph and I take foot
off the gas BUT I downshift to 2 right as I take my
foot off the gas (bumps up rpm a bit) it won’t stall.
What’s everyone think?

Troubleshoot the tranny somemore. Sounds like maybe the engine loads down to below the ability to maintain an idle speed, simply because the tranny is staying engaged to the engine when it should release...kinda like a manual tranny does.

Check and replace it need... Look at ur sensor in between the engine and tyranny.. If that sensor is bad or if it's to far or to close our Tran well have that problem..
