You are on the right track with wires in your door. The ram is notorious for these wires breaking. Remove the accordion boot that runs from the pillar to the door. Check and see if the wires are ok.

Also, pull the speaker and check the magnet. My 2005 Dakota had magnets break off! Speaker frame is plastic and weight of magnet combined with junk plastic speaker frame will not hold up to repeated door slamming. Magnet may be loose from cracked mounting causing cutting out eventually breaking completely off

Yea I pulled both boots on the door checked the wires and connectors. All was good there. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the dome light circuit bc I unplugged the door harness completely then by hand push the button and the radio would cut on. And with both doors closed I can take the dimmer/headlight switch to where it turns the dome light on and it cuts the radio off. Do u think there might be a short in the headlight switch

I would agree w your logic. It seems there is a short somewhere in the overhead lights and map courtesy light. With the help of one of your friends disconnect the overhead courtesy lights and map courtesy lights and everything will be working. I believe that the wiring circuits in some of these systems are made to deteriorate after about 10 to 15 years. I hope that this isn't the case, but read this

The radio is seeking a ground through the lamp circuit. when you open the door. you are loosing the ground. try a seperate ground wire from the radio chasis to a good ground. I have fixed many radios with this condition.

I'm having similar issues. when I turn on the radio the dome and map lights are lit very dim. as soon as i open the door or turn on the dome light the radio cuts off completely. I tried running a seperate ground and that didnt change anything. i have found that i have continuity between the right rear speaker wire and the dome light. i am continuing to dig into the wiring to see what is shorted. i have unhooked the door wiring harness and had no luck with that changing it either.
