what makes it miss really bad when slowing down or sitting still, going down road it runs fine

already put new plugs and wires and distributor cap on it and it still doing it , no check engine light to have it tested.

The check engine light may not be on but it will store the bad code in it memory so even if the light is not on have it scanned for codes anyway.
