Im having trouble with my S10 cranking.

Asked by Mcpeake70 May 19, 2012 at 10:17 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet S-10 LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It will not start right off i have to bump it with short strokes and then it will start if it sets for about 2 hours i have to
repeat the process. the fuel works and it sparks but what i am worried about is it time for a timing chain or belt. its
coming up on 180,000. I had always heard you should change it out after 180,000. And in the winter i have to spray
it to start.

What happens if you hold the key in the start position? Does it run smooth once you get it started?
