overdrive lite on shifter blinks when truck is running or key is on pushing the button has no effect

It means your transmission has detected a fault or a slip. It is basically your transmission's 'check engine' light! Disconnect the battery, let is sit for about ten minutes, that should clear the code... Reconnect the battery and drive it -- If it comes back on, something is wrong with your transmission. They will throw codes like that sometimes for overheating... I would recommend you drop the pan, change out fluid and filter/gasket. A good fluid CHANGE --not 'flush'-- can do wonders for a Ford transmission!
